Former ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ Actress Imani Hakim Stars In Lifetime’s Gabrielle Douglas Biopic
I remember hearing about this!
We all loved the sitcom ‘Everybody Hates Chris.’ The show was loosely-based off of comedian Chris Rock’s life and it was hilarious. If you remember, Chris (played by Tyler James Williams) had a younger sister, Tonya (played by Imani Hakim) and Imani is all grown up now. The 20 year-old will star in Lifetime’s Gabrielle Douglas biopic, ‘The Gabby Douglas Story’ (working title).
Imani will portray Gabby as a teenager and a young adult. The cast also includes Sydney Mikayla who will portray Douglas during her childhood, Peabody Award-winning actress Regina King as her mother and Golden Globe® and Emmy®-winner S. Epatha Merkerson as her grandmother.
I am pretty excited about this because I love me some Regina King, hunni, and I’m looking forward to Imani’s performace in this movie. She’s all grown up now and I hope this is her break out film; I’m sure she’s going to bring it.
Gabby Douglas was the first black gymnast in Olympic history to become the Individual All-Around Champion. She was also the first American gymnast to win gold in the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympics.
“The Gabby Douglas Story” is set to premiere Saturday, February 1 at 8pm ET/PT on Lifetime.
